![]() Glenbrook Valley Glenbrook Valley runs below U.S. Highway 50 a few miles inland from Lake Tahoe's southeast shore and Spooner Lake. Its primary features are the meadows, appropriately called the South Meadow with the towering Captain Pomin Rock behind it. The mountain peak was named after Captain Ernest John Pomin, captain of the S.S Tahoe. This area is part of the Glenbrook
community and has been exclusively private for more than five
generations. Dating back to 1860, the original owner of the Glenbrook area
was the late Captain Augustus W. Pray who was from Maine and was a sea
captain who had sailed both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans who built
his home on the South Meadow. The photos you see have me standing on a dirt trail above U.S. Highway 50 overlooking the Old Highway 50, South Meadow and Captain Pomin Rock nestled in Glenbrook Valley. In the near future I will get better views of it, so for now these will certainly bring back the memories of the above episodes for those who enjoy watching them.
Bonus Photos From Route 28! These six thumbnails are further down the State Route 28, going north of U.S. Highway 50, looking at Lake Tahoe from above Lower Pray Meadows in May 2002, named after the owner of the majority of the Glenbrook area which was the late Captain Augustus W. Pray.
