Spooner Lake "Different Pines, Same Wind" was a very outstanding episode, filmed here in Summer of 1968.

This beautiful mountain lake is on Nevada State Route 28, after Ca. Hwy 50 merges into it at the Spooner Summit, at the 7000 foot elevation. Episodes such as "The Lonely Runner", "Desperate Passage", "Different Pines, Same Wind", "Land Grab", and "Check Rein" were filmed here from 1965 through 1968, and the famous scene of Joe riding Cochise along the lakeshore in many episodes was filmed here, and in 1987, the Bonanza TV-movie, "Bonanza: The Next Generation" was made here as well as at the Ponderosa Wagon Camp. There is a small fee to enter the lake, but well worth it! This beautiful high country lake is where many fine episodes, such as "The Lonely Runner", "Desperate Passage" and "Check Rein" were made at during Bonanza's summer location filming in 1965 and 1967.
DIRECTIONS (From Lake Tahoe): Take Hwy 50 from South Lake Tahoe until it merges into Nevada State Route 28, and as you are driving at the Spooner Summit, the lake will be on your right side.
